The “The tree as our teacher. What do trees teach children?”<\/strong> project aims to educate 545 young people from S\u00e2ndominic, Tome\u0219ti, and B\u0103lan (Harghita County) on the complexity of forest ecosystems, their ecological benefits, and the importance of biodiversity conservation through hands-on learning. By applying their newly acquired knowledge, participants will actively engage in solving 12 environmental challenges within their communities.<\/p>\n

Through this initiative, young people will develop a deeper understanding of ecology and biogeography, gaining awareness of local environmental issues and their direct and indirect impacts. Their experiences will foster a stronger connection with nature and a sense of responsibility for preserving forests. Moreover, by participating in habitat restoration efforts and afforestation projects on abandoned pastures, they will contribute meaningfully to environmental protection and ecosystem recovery.<\/p>\n

As future decision-makers in their communities, these young individuals will be well-equipped to advocate for environmental sustainability and contribute to building resilient, climate-adaptive communities.<\/p>\n

The educational project consists of five interconnected extracurricular programs and three planting activities, designed to complement each other over an 18-month implementation period. The goal is to explore 12 environmental issues in depth. These programs address real-world challenges, focusing on forestry, and provide opportunities to practice problem-solving and conflict resolution techniques. By participating, students are encouraged to take on roles as active contributors, creative thinkers, and innovators. Solutions are primarily developed through an interactive brainstorming process that engages all participants.<\/p>\n

What do trees teach children?”<\/strong> project is funded by the National Environmental Fund, under the Programme\u00a0 “Viz\u00e2nd educa\u0163ia \u015fi con\u015ftientizarea publicului privind protec\u0163ia mediului”.
